2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The 2023 Range Rover Evoque is the subcompact-SUV class's fashionista, and it's sure to turn heads. Unfortunately, its practical qualities fall short of those of the segment's leaders. Its cargo capacity and interior space are neither as generous as those of competitors such as the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLB-class, and Volvo XC40.

Those SUVs are also more enjoyable to drive than the Evoque. The Evoque comes with two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, but neither will save you much money at the pump due to their mediocre fuel efficiency. Finally, the Evoque's allure stems from its eye-catching design, tailored interior, and luxury-brand cachet. Furthermore, its high seating position gives it a more SUV-like feel than some lower-riding competitors.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Price

The base S model of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque costs $45,000, while the R-Dynamic S model costs $46,600. The SE trim starts at $49,500, while the SE R-Dynamic starts at $51,100. The most expensive P300 HST model starts at $55,300.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Engine

The Evoque is powered by a 246-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine known as the P250, and it comes standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The Evoque achieved a 7.1-second zero-to-60-mph time on our test track. Rivals such as the BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40 achieved slightly faster times, but the Land Rover remains competitively lively. The more powerful P300 powertrain is only available in the top-spec HST R-Dynamic model.

The engine produces 296 horsepower and is aided by a 48-volt hybrid system; the P300 achieved a 6.6-second zero-to-60-mph time on our test track. On the road, the Evoque cannot be mistaken for a hatchback, as the X1 can. It feels substantial, and the seat height is SUV-appropriate; it handles corners adequately, but not as well as the BMW or Mercedes-Benz GLA-class.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Fuel

According to the EPA, the Evoque should get 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. A P250 returned a pitiful 24 mpg in our 75-mph highway fuel economy test.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Interior

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Unfortunately, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque's chunky exterior dimensions belie its cramped interior space, which is especially uncomfortable for those in the back seat. When compared to other subcompact SUVs like the X1 and the XC40, the Evoque's rear seats feel extremely cramped. Having said that, the interior materials are quite nice. The Evoque can be ordered with textured-cloth upholstery that covers the seats, door panels, and dashboard; leather is still available as standard. Dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, and ambient interior lighting are also standard. Cargo space behind the rear seat isn't as large as you'd expect from an SUV, but it held six carry-on suitcases in our testing, which is comparable to the rest of the segment.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Infotainment

All Evoque models include a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Land Rover's Pivi Pro interface. The system has improved over the previous generation models' InControl Touch Pro system in terms of functionality, but buyers will still need to get used to its quirks. Navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration are standard, with a head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Meridian premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio available as options.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Safety

The Evoque comes standard with a slew of driver-assistance features, with more available as optional extras. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for more information on the Evoque's crash-test results. The following are important safety features:

Standard automated emergency braking with detection of pedestrians and cyclists

Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist are standard features.

Adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode is available.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Warranty

The Range Rover Evoque does nothing to distinguish itself in this category, with a warranty that barely meets the industry standard. Because it has a longer powertrain warranty, the Lexus NX may be a better choice for buyers who drive more than the average person.

The limited warranty lasts four years or 50,000 miles.

The powertrain warranty is valid for four years or 50,000 miles.

There is no free scheduled maintenance.
