2022 Kia Telluride Engine

The 3.8-liter V6 engine in the Kia Telluride produces 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain propels the Telluride with little drama, but if you frequently transport a large group, you might prefer more responsive acceleration.

2022 Kia Telluride Engine

Every Telluride is powered by a naturally aspirated V-6 engine with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Its engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels in the standard configuration—all-wheel drive is also available as an option. The top-tier Telluride SX we tested reached 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. However, at lower speeds, the big Kia didn't feel as responsive to throttle inputs as some of its turbocharged rivals.

The Telluride's ride is firm, with rough pavement occasionally throwing the three-row SUV off course. There is also a self-leveling rear air suspension option. The brakes are excellent, and the steering is precise and has a nice heft to it. For off-road adventures, the Telluride has 8.0 inches of ground clearance and can tow up to 5000 pounds.

Because of the well-weighted steering and good manoeuvrability, this Kia drives like a smaller crossover. It turns confidently and stays planted, keeping body lean in check. The ride isn't as supple as you'd expect from a luxury SUV, and it can feel a little stiff over bumps or uneven pavement. Even so, it's certainly comfortable enough to live with on a daily basis.

2022 Kia Telluride Off-Road Performance

While it lacks the off-road prowess of some other SUVs, the Telluride is capable of some light adventuring. It has an 8-inch ground clearance and a standard skid plate, and the optional all-wheel-drive system includes an AWD lock and a dedicated Snow driving mode.
