For 2022, all K5 models will be emblazoned with Kia's new logo, and there will be a smattering of new standard features throughout the lineup. The front-drive LXS now has USB charging ports in the rear seats. The GT-Line now includes a base all-wheel-drive trim, effectively making the system a $1600 option rather than part of last year's $3700 package. Most notably, the GT-Line and higher models now include a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, rather than the previous 8.0-inch unit. In addition, all front-drive GT-Line models now include a wireless smartphone charger in the centre console. Both the EX and GT get a new 360-degree camera system, power-folding outside mirrors, and front parking sensors.
2022 Kia K5 Fuel
According to the EPA, the 2022 K5 with the base four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive will get up to 29 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. When all-wheel drive is added, both of these ratings plummet to 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway.
Nonetheless, both figures are comparable to those of the all-wheel-drive Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry. The 290-hp, front-drive-only K5 GT is the least efficient of the bunch, achieving 24 mpg city and 32 highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, we tested a front-drive K5 with the standard powertrain, and it returned an impressive 43 mpg, outperforming the government rating by 5. The GT outperformed as well, outperforming its rating by 4 mpg with a result of 36 mpg.
2022 Kia K5 Gas Mileage
The K5 gets 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway with the base engine and front-wheel drive. These scores are about average for the midsize car segment. If you choose the larger engine (24/32 mpg city/highway) or all-wheel drive (25/33 mpg city/highway), the numbers drop slightly.
