2021 Cadillac XT6

Despite sharing components with the GMC Acadia, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 manages to conceal its low-end origins with convincingly upscale styling and a feature-rich options list. There are two engines available: a turbocharged four-cylinder and a V-6, as well as a Sport model with a torque-vectoring rear differential. Despite its performance features, the XT6 lacks the driving vigour of more athletic competitors like the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Instead, it appears to be better suited to competing with its crosstown rival, the Lincoln Aviator. The XT6 comes standard with a slew of desirable features, including a number of driver-assistance features, three rows of seats, and a power-operated liftgate.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Price

The starting MSRP for the entry-level Cadillac XT6 Luxury is $47,995, which puts it in the middle of the luxury midsize SUV price range. The top trim Sport model starts at $57,195, which is significantly less than the base price of many rivals' top trims; however, keep in mind that many competitors offer true performance-oriented trims with more powerful engines, which the XT6 does not.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Engine

2021 Cadillac XT6

Buyers of the XT6 in 2021 will have a choice between a 237-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 310-hp V-6 engine. Both are equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and are available with front- or all-wheel drive. The XT6 is available in three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport, with the first two emphasising comfort and the Sport emphasising performance-enhancing features like a torque-vectoring rear differential and retuned steering. A Platinum package is available, which includes all of the XT6's features. The XT6 looks good in any trim; 20-inch wheels are standard, but 21-inch wheels are available on the Sport model. The handling is adequate for a three-row crossover, but it is no match for the agile CT5-V sedan.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Fuel

According to the EPA, the 2021 XT6 with the standard turbo-four will achieve up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Models with the V-6 engine can achieve up to 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel-drive XT6 we drove on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our extensive testing yielded a less rosy 22 mpg. For comparison, the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 we tested on that route received a score of 23.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Interior

Inside, the Cadillac is available in seven- and eight-seat configurations, with either a pair of captain's chairs or a three-seat bench in the second row. All XT6s have a third row that seats three people. When compared to the Audi Q7 or the BMW X5, the XT6's interior trims fall short. Cargo space is also limited, with only three carry-on suitcases allowed. Lowering the back two rows, on the other hand, creates enough space for 31 suitcases. The Q7 has four cases behind its third row but only 25 with the seats folded, so the XT6 is a better choice if you frequently need to transport large and bulky cargo.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Infotainment

Touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, onboard Wi-Fi, and wireless smartphone charging are standard on all XT6 models. Cadillac's latest CUE (Cadillac User Experience) software displays crisply on an 8.0-inch screen and responds quickly to commands. Optional features include navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system with a DVD player.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Safety

The XT6 received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a Top Safety Pick+, the agency's highest honour. A slew of driver-assist features are standard, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring, with more advanced features (adaptive cruise control, night vision) available as options. The following are important safety features:

Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection is standard.

Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist is standard.

Night vision and adaptive cruise control are options.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Warranty

The standard warranty package is the same for all Cadillac models, including the XT6. It includes bumper-to-bumper coverage for four years or 50,000 miles, as well as a powertrain warranty for six years or 70,000 miles. Most of the XT6's European competitors only offer a four-year/50,000-mile warranty package.

The limited warranty period is four years or 50,000 miles.

The powertrain warranty is valid for six years or 70,000 miles.

For the first visit, maintenance is provided at no cost.
