With seating for up to eight people, an 8,300-pound tow rating, and a plethora of wood, leather, and advanced electronics, the 2019 Cadillac Escalade is certainly imposing, but it's also quite capable. If you have enough space in your garage, this is the SUV you'll want to fill it with.

Every Escalade in the lineup comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that runs the most recent version of Cadillac's CUE infotainment software. A luxury vehicle should provide relaxation rather than frustration, as exemplified by CUE. Its reliance on touch-sensitive controls is constantly distracting and, at times, inaccurate. Aside from that, every model comes with a variety of charging ports and standard features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE mobile hotspot.

While both Escalades have a power-folding third row, the extended ESV is better suited for family road trips. It held eight more bags behind the last row with an extra 24 cubic feet than the shorter model (12 total). Both Cadillacs have a spacious centre console with an optional refrigerated bin. There's also a hidden compartment behind the climate controls that opens, ideal for storing smartphones connected to the infotainment system. The cargo area has a large underfloor bin, which is useful for separate storage but reduces carry-on capacity.
