2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Engine

The Ford Mustang Mach-E 2022 is an electric SUV with the Mustang name and styling inspired by the iconic sports car. It does, however, have all of the utility of a crossover SUV, with a roomy, high-tech interior. This SUV also has the performance to live up to its name, particularly in the GT models, which reach 0-60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds.

The impressive electric range adds to the Ford Mustang Mach-practicality. E's Ford hopes to achieve a range of up to 305 miles. Even the entry-level models can travel 211 miles on a single charge. The new BlueCruise driving system, which allows for hands-free driving on Ford-mapped highways, is one of the many available tech features.

The 2022 Mustang Mach-E comes with a standard-range 70.0-kWh battery or an extended-range 91.0-kWh pack. These power an electric motor mounted on either the rear or both axles. This latter combination results in all-wheel drive, and the motors combine to produce 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque on the sporty GT and GT Performance models. The GT Performance model we tested reached 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, but it fell short of our expectations. Less powerful models produce between 266 and 346 horsepower and 317 to 428 pound-feet of torque.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is equipped with wheels ranging in size from 18 to 20 inches, as well as adaptive dampers for adjustable ride firmness. The model we drove was an extended-range, all-wheel-drive model that was quicker and more enjoyable to drive than most other crossovers. Drivers should not expect the Mach-E to be nearly as entertaining as the standard Mustang. Its whisper-quiet operation and silky-smooth ride were particularly impressive.
