2022 Land Rover Range Rover

Despite its blue-collar heritage dating back more than a half-century, the 2022 Range Rover's high-end interior and first-class curb appeal are intended to attract wealthy, white-collar buyers. While its transformation has taken decades, this leather-lined limo has arrived at a point where its nearly six-figure starting price seems reasonable. Leather, wood, and thickly piled carpeting are among the upscale finishes in the cabin. There's also a lot of technology. Buyers can choose between a turbocharged inline-six and a 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine, but all models include off-road features like all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and an air suspension that can be raised for extra ground clearance.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover

Few Range Rover owners would venture far from paved roads, but knowing you could if you wanted to is a luxury. In an unusual twist, this new generation of Range Rover, which will be available for the 2022 model year, will be sold alongside a 2022 model of the previous generation until inventory is depleted.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Price

The 2022 Range Rover starts at $92,000, making it one of the most expensive base models in the luxury large SUV segment. The majority of Range Rover models cost more than $100,000, with the most powerful V8 variant starting around $180,000.

The new Range Rover will be available with either a 395-hp turbocharged inline-six engine with a 48-volt hybrid system or a new 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine at launch. The base SE trim is the only one with a hybrid powertrain, but the V-8 is optional on the SE and standard on the Autobiography and First Edition models.

Land Rover says a 434-hp plug-in hybrid option will join the lineup in 2023, offering up to 62 miles of electric-only driving; an all-electric model will be available beginning in 2024; and a high-performance SV model is in the works, possibly with a more powerful version of the twin-turbo V-8. We'll update this storey with driving impressions once we've had a chance to test drive the new Range Rover. Meanwhile, the outgoing Range Rover, which may still be available on a few dealer lots, may be a good buy.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Fuel

While EPA estimates for the new Range Rover have not yet been released, we anticipate that the new model will closely match the outgoing model's fuel-economy numbers. The base hybrid powertrain should get around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, while the V-8 model will get slightly less in both categories. When we learn more about the Range Rover's fuel economy, we'll update this storey.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Interior

The new Range Rover, like the previous generation, has a plush interior decked out in rich leathers and woods, but buyers looking for a more sustainable cabin can opt for a new leather-free option that substitutes wool or other textiles. Depending on configuration and wheelbase, the interior can seat four, five, or seven people. The Range Rover's split rear liftgate can be used as convenient and comfortable seating for outdoor events, and an optional motorised divider for the cargo area helps keep things from moving around too much during travel.

A new 13.1-inch curved infotainment display with Land Rover's latest Pivi Pro interface is standard on all models. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, and Amazon's Alexa voice assistant is also included. In-dash navigation, wireless smartphone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 13.7-inch digital gauge display are also standard. A Meridian stereo system with 35 speakers is available, as is a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 11.4-inch displays.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Safety

The new Range Rover is expected to come standard with a slew of modern driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for more information on the Range Rover's crash-test results. The following are likely to be key safety features:

Standard automated emergency braking with detection of pedestrians and cyclists

Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist is standard.

Adaptive cruise control is standard, with a semi-autonomous driving mode.

2022 Land Rover Range Rover Warranty

The Range Rover's warranty coverage is mostly comparable to that of its luxury competitors, but it does not include free scheduled maintenance. Competitors like the BMW X7 and the Volvo XC90 include three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance as part of the purchase price.

The limited warranty period is four years or 50,000 miles.

The powertrain warranty is valid for four years or 50,000 miles.
