2022 Kia Rio Interior

The KIA Rio's interior finishes are all high-end. There are some plastic surfaces, but their textured design enhances their appearance and feel.

Inside the kia Rio, simplicity is the name of the game, and this is not a slight. In fact, it features a clean, user-friendly dashboard with climate and audio controls. There's a lot of hard plastic, but it's nicely textured, and the interior design is mature and sophisticated for a subcompact. The space in the Kia's front seats is more than adequate, but rear-seat passengers will be disappointed due to limited legroom.

The Rio hatchback has more trunk space than the sedan, but neither Kia is a good choice if you plan to haul a lot of cargo. We were disappointed to discover that folding the seats does not result in a flat load floor in the hatch. Its centre console and door pockets are both competitively sized.

Kia Rio Cargo Space

The cargo capacity of the Rio sedan and hatchback is adequate for the class. Sedan models have 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space, while hatchbacks have 17.4 cubic feet behind the back row and 32.8 cubic feet with the back row folded.

How Many People Does the Rio Seat?

The Kia Rio is available in two body styles, both of which seat up to five passengers. The front row has plenty of head- and legroom, but the rear seats aren't nearly as spacious as those in competitors like the Nissan Versa. Nonetheless, this is not uncommon in subcompact cars.

Kia Rio and Child Car Seats

There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the back outboard seats, as well as a tether anchor for the back middle seat. For its ease of use, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Rio's LATCH system the second-highest rating of Acceptable. The system is simple to use, but the lower anchors are too deeply embedded in the seats.
