2022 Ford Ranger Engine

The turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine in the 2022 Ford Ranger produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with a 10-speed automatic transmission; four-wheel drive is optional.

This engine runs smoothly and delivers much of its torque at lower rpm, allowing the Ranger to accelerate confidently off the line and up to speed, even when towing or hauling. The sprint from zero to sixty miles per hour takes about seven seconds. The transmission provides smooth and mostly prompt upshifts, but it has a tendency to stutter when downshifting, which dulls the truck's otherwise strong passing power.

2022 Ford Ranger Ride and Handling

Body-on-frame vehicles aren't typically known for their road manners. The Ford Ranger, on the other hand, proves to be a better driver than most. The Ranger's steering is responsive and well-weighted, and it's relatively easy to manoeuvre and park in tight spaces. Although larger bumps can jitter and jolt the truck around, its taut suspension provides a firm but comfortable ride on most road surfaces while minimising body lean and sway around turns. The brakes have excellent stopping power. Overall, the Ranger's ride and handling are pleasant.
