2022 Ford Maverick Fuel

The all-new Ford Maverick is a fantastic compact pickup truck that is a welcome return to the small pickups that vanished over a decade ago. The Maverick is a low-cost, utilitarian vehicle that is about as easy and comfortable to drive as a compact SUV. Powertrain options include an efficient hybrid system and a turbocharged four-cylinder, both of which propel the truck quickly. The Maverick can also transport a surprising amount of cargo, and its crew cab is spacious and well-equipped for the price.

Our all-wheel drive XLT Fx4 model with the nonhybrid powertrain matched its 29 mpg EPA rating on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route.

2022 Ford Maverick Gas Mileage

The Ford Maverick Hybrid, according to Ford, gets 40 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway (official EPA estimates aren't yet available). That's excellent gas mileage for a compact pickup truck, and it even outperforms a few compact cars. When equipped with front-wheel drive, the Ford Maverick EcoBoost achieves 23/30 mpg city/highway and 22/29 mpg when equipped with all-wheel drive. These figures aren't as high as the hybrid's, but they still outperform competitors such as the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Honda Ridgeline, and Nissan Frontier.
