2022 Ford GT Engine

Few automakers can compete with Ford's breadth of capabilities. The Blue Oval does it all, from muscle cars to pickup trucks to hot hatchbacks to supercars like the GT. While the Mustang, F-150, and Fiesta are all hot sellers and well-liked in their respective segments, the Ford GT is a little more reserved and underappreciated. You could argue that the majority of it is due to the fact that it costs half a million dollars, but you won't see many jet-setters driving Ford GTs on a Sunday cruise around Miami in comparison to similarly priced Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

Unlike the previous-generation GT, which had a supercharged V-8 engine, the new car has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine similar to the one found in the Ford F-150 Raptor. The V-6 engine produces 660 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Even though the last version we tested had a few fewer horses, it still had supercar-like acceleration times. The GT is surprisingly easy to drive, and the big car feels light and agile behind the wheel. Despite its high performance potential, the ride isn't as harsh as you might expect. Over minor bumps, the suspension rides just shy of choppy, but it still transmits some harsh impacts to the cabin.
