The full-size SUV Ford Expedition 2022 can seat up to eight people, travel on the highway, and go off-road. It's a spacious and versatile vehicle, and the longer Max version provides significantly more cargo space.

2022 Ford Expedition Engine

The Ford Expedition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission, which can be paired with rear- or all-wheel drive. The standard engine produces 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, but Limited models produce 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A higher-output version is available on the Timberline trim and the Limited with the Stealth Performance package, which increases the figures to 440 horses and 510 pound-feet. While neither of those engines have been tested, we have previously tested a Platinum model with a 400-hp twin-turbo V-6.

All Expeditions have an independent rear suspension, which provides a smoother ride and better handling than the live-axle setups found in Chevrolet and GMC competitors. While its soft ride comforts passengers, it penalises the driver with ungainly handling and imprecise steering feel. The Expedition can tow up to 9300 pounds, while the Expedition Max can only tow 9000 pounds.
