2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Engine

The all-new Ford F-150 Lightning is a first-of-its-kind all-electric pickup truck that is intended to carry on the legacy of the best-selling Ford F-150 for the foreseeable future. The Lightning combines everything you love about the legendary F-150 with the cutting-edge technology of an EV. This is the most powerful F-150 available, with 563 horsepower and 775 lb/ft of torque.

Two electric motors and all-wheel drive are standard on all Ford F-150 Lightning models. The motors combine to produce 426 horsepower with the Standard-Range battery, but with the Extended-Range battery, the horsepower rating rises to 563; peak torque is an impressive 775 pound-feet with either setup. Performance should be quick, but we'll have to wait until we can strap our test gear on to find out for sure.

Ford has also filed patents for a removable range extender motor disguised as one of those bed-mounted tool boxes. If there isn't a charging station nearby, the motor will kick in to recharge the battery. So far, we haven't seen a real-life version of such a concept, but it could be available as an add-on option to the F-150 Lightning at launch.
