The Cadillac Escalade 2022 ranks near the top of our list of luxury large SUVs. It's opulent and comfortable, with plenty of space inside.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade hasn't seen many changes. Lane departure warning and lane keep assist are now standard, and some features have been shuffled between trim levels. Aside from that, the 2022 Escalade is nearly identical to the 2021 Escalade.

2022 Cadillac Escalade Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Cadillac's largest SUV is powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower and the ability to deactivate half of its cylinders while cruising to save fuel, or a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six. Both engines will come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and buyers will be able to choose between rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations based on their specific needs. The 2021 Escalade, like its siblings, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and the GMC Yukon, now rides on an all-new platform with an independent rear suspension to help provide a smoother ride.

Air suspension with adaptive dampers that use computer-controlled shock absorbers is also available on higher-end models. The long-wheelbase Escalade ESV with the V-8 engine reached 60 mph in 5.9 seconds on our test track. The diesel engine sounds less refined than the V-8, but for some buyers, the improved fuel economy and low-end torque are worth the trade-off.
