2022 Cadillac CT4 Engine

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 has quick acceleration and fun handling, but it has a disappointing and cramped interior. This vehicle does not have an overall rating or score because it has not been fully crash tested or reliability rated.

2022 Cadillac CT4 Engine

The 2022 Cadillac CT4 is equipped with a 237-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as standard. It scoots you around with little effort and aids in satisfying acceleration up to higher speeds when paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Another turbo-four option is: It has a 2.7-liter engine that produces 310 or 325 horsepower depending on the trim level. This upgrade feels more powerful, but the 10-speed automatic transmission with which it pairs receives mixed reviews. It mostly delivers smooth shifts, but it can feel unrefined at times as it hunts for the right gear.

The high-performance Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is new for 2022. It's a proper small sports sedan, with a 472-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 under the hood. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and the only way to get that kind of gearbox in a CT4; a 10-speed automatic transmission is optional.

Cadillac claims that the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds with an automatic transmission and 4.1 seconds with a manual transmission. The top speed is advertised as 189 miles per hour.

2022 Cadillac CT4 Gas Mileage

With its base engine and standard rear-wheel drive, the 2022 Cadillac CT4 achieves excellent fuel economy for a luxury small car. The EPA estimates 23 mpg in town and 34 mpg on the highway; with all-wheel drive, those figures drop to 22 mpg in town and 31 mpg on the highway.

Depending on the horsepower rating and drivetrain, fuel economy ratings for the CT4 with the 2.7-liter engine range from 21/31 mpg city/highway to 20/28 mpg city/highway. The performance CT4-V Blackwing, unsurprisingly, is a lot less fuel-efficient: it gets 16/24 mpg with the automatic transmission and 15/23 mpg with the manual.

2022 Cadillac CT4 Ride and Handling

This Cadillac expertly combines athletic handling and a posh ride. The Cadillac CT4 is eager to attack turns, with responsive steering and minimal body roll. It also travels smoothly over uneven terrain.

The CT4-V and Blackwing models have adaptive Magnetic Ride Control as well as other suspension and braking upgrades that make them more fun to drive as well as more composed when you want to settle in for a long trip.
